The functions of the plant structures provide mechanisms for the plants life processes.Sparrows and eagles are both birds because they have feathers and hollow bones. There are many ways we can categorize animals based on similarities. We can create a biological key by making statements and then determine if the organism matches the criteria.
A biological key, also known as an identification key or a dichotomous key, is a way to classify organisms by giving the classifier two options in each stage until identification occurs. Below is a very simple 10-step biological key to help you see how you could use a key to categorize plants. Plants absorb sunlight and produce food for themselves in the form of glucose (sugar). When you eat a plant, you are ingesting the food that the plant made for itself. Function Of Plant Structure How To Control CookiesTo find out more, including how to control cookies, see here. One of the branches is biology is the study of plants called botany. Plants are organisms that can manufacture their food by harnessing the energy from the sun and utilizes carbon dioxide and water to create sugar molecules. The study of plants allows people to understand different plant processes and the importance of these lifeforms in humans and society. The science of botany also contains various branches that deal with specific fields of specializations. ![]() It includes the mechanism of the causal agent and its prevention. Plant Physiology deals with the structure of the plants and their correlation to their functions. Plant Ecology is the study of plant distribution in various environments and how it impacts the relationships in an ecosystem. Lastly, Paleobotany refers to the analysis of fossilized plant structures that allow humans to understand the evolution of plants. Dermal tissue is composed of closely packeted epidermal cells that cover the outer surface of plants. It is common in herbaceous plants, preventing water loss in the plant body to prevent it from suffering from wilting damage and other injuries. Ground tissue includes parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchyma cells in the plant body. Parenchyma cells are essential for photosynthetic processes and food storage of plants. Collenchyma and sclerenchyma cells both protect plants by providing a rigid structure. Lastly, vascular tissues are composed of xylem and phloem that allow the transport of food and water around different plant organs. Xylem transports water and nutrients from the soil to the leaves and stem of the plant to facilitate photosynthesis. Phloem, on the other hand, allows the distribution of organic content to different plant organs where they are necessary for their process.
